Nosh4Nonviolence (formerly Dine4DV) is a collaborative fundraiser for domestic violence intervention agencies that mobilizes restaurants willing to donate proceeds from one day of business directly to services to survivors. In its third year, the event has historically taken place in the Portland metro region. However, with the support of the Oregon Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence, the event is going statewide in 2012! According to the Center for Disease Control’s National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey released in November 2011, one in four women and one in seven men have experienced “severe physical violence” by a partner. While staggering, this statistic doesn’t include more subtle forms of violence, such as verbal and emotional abuse, which are also a part of domestic violence. In an effort to support survivors and bring an end to domestic violence in Oregon, local nonāprofits are working together on a day of community dining to raise awareness and funds for crucial services. You can help! By supporting local domestic violence agencies, you’ll help us offer advocacy and support to individuals escaping violence. Read on for the benefits of being involved as a sponsor restaurant and the commitment form. We sincerely hope you can participate to raise funds for these important organizations this year!
