Sexual Assault includes a wide range of victimizations, distinct from rape or attempted rape. These crimes include completed or attempted attacks generally involving unwanted sexual contact between the victim and offender.
- Sexual assaults may or may not involve force and include such things as grabbing or fondling.
- Sexual assault also includes verbal threats.
- The term sexual assault encompasses the more global scope of the problem.
Rape: Forced or coerced penetration of a person's vagina or anus no matter how slight or any forced or coerced contact between the mouth, genitals, or anus.
- Without Consent:
- Compelled to submit by force or threat of force
- A person is incapable of consent because:
- Mentally disabled or incapacitated **includes alcohol & drugs
- Physically helpless

- Of the 262,000 women living in Multnomah County, nearly 46,000 have ever been raped.
- Of the 165,000 women living in Washington County, nearly 29,000 have ever been raped.
- Of the 128,000 women living in Clackamas County, over 22,000 have ever been raped.
- Of the 128,000 women living in Lane County, over 22,000 have ever been raped.
- Of the 104,000 women living in Marion County, over 18,000 have ever been raped.
- Of the 71,000 women living in Jackson County, over 12,000 have ever been raped.
- Of the 44,000 women living in Deschutes County, about 7,700 have ever been raped.
- Of the 39,000 women living in Linn County, nearly 6,800 have ever been raped.

Oregon's SAVE Fund
The Sexual Assault Victim Emergency Medical Response (SAVE) fund, administered by the Oregon Department of Justice, Crime Victims' Assistance Section (CVAS), is used to pay for medical and forensic medical exams for victims of sexual assault in Oregon. Established as a public/private partnership, the fund receives no General Fund (tax dollars) from the State. The services are paid for through private donations and some matching federal funds.
One hundred percent of your donation goes toward the cost of forensic and medical exams for sexual assault victims. Donations to the SAVE fund are tax deductible.
